Utility Relocation

  • Overhead Pole Line Conversion to Underground – Coordination with Comcast and Verizon to relocate existing overhead facilities to underground while maintaining existing services to remain residences.

Mainline Services

  • Coordination with PEPCO, Verizon, Comcast, and Washington Gas for service designs and easements required.
  • Completed PEPCO Structural Facility Drawings
  • Completed layouts including conduit and device locations for each utility to follow while completing their respective designs.

Temporary Services

  • Coordination with PEPCO to obtain a design and cost to provide temporary services for construction.

Disconnects

  • Coordination with PEPCO, Verizon, Comcast and Washington Gas construction departments for the removal of existing services to facilitate the demolition of the existing buildings.

Streetlights

  • Coordination PEPCO and project MEP for streetlight design and PEPCO source locations.

Utility Relocation

  • Relocation of underground and overhead utilities (power and gas) during the construction of the new Route 1 Bridge.
    • Dominion VA Power – Worked with Dominion engineer to relocate three circuits of bulk feeder facilities. Provided project costs to the client and coordinated with Dominion for relocation design and cost estimate. Also, worked with civil engineer on routing of conduit system and manholes required for the relocation.
    • Washington Gas – Worked with engineers and project managers at Washington Gas to complete relocation design and cost estimate to relocate a 12” steel gas main onto the new bridge.
  • Relocation of underground utilities (power and telephone) that conflict with proposed force main installation.
    • Dominion VA Power – Worked with Dominion engineer to relocate 700’ of single-phase facilities. Provided project costs to the client and coordinated with Dominion engineer for relocation design and cost estimate.
    • Verizon – Worked with engineering manager to complete relocation design and cost estimate to move 700’ of facilities in conflict with proposed force main.
  • Conflict with Dominion VA Power underground transmission lines – coordinated with Dominion transmission group for approval of fill required on top of existing transmission lines. Also, obtained necessary permits for the installation of new utilities under the transmission line.

Streetlights & Traffic Signals

  • Coordinated with Dominion engineer to design power source locations for multiple proposed new traffic signals as well as provide streetlights for the opening of the new Route 1 Bridge.

Mainline Services

  • Completed conceptual utility layout for residential and commercial landbays to include Dominion, Verizon, Comcast and Washington Gas utility routes, conduit requirements and device locations.
  • Coordinated the design and install of all dry utility services to the onsite pumping station and Fire Station/condo building.
